Hello from Missouri! I hope these semi-weekly updates are at least just a bit enjoyable... if nothing else, I'm pretty sure my kids are cute here and there!
It was a pretty normal week around here, except for one BIG thing... we started "Home Preschool" with Therese! Yay! She is really excited about it, and so am I. We haven't even had a full week of it yet, but it is going well and both of us are learning daily!
Here is the big girl driving the school bus... she is still learning driver safety concerning small children in the vehicle!
David usually has a pretty sweet set up when it comes to playing with Therese. She loves so much to pretend to be a mother, that half of the time or more David just gets to sit there, whine for things, and Therese quickly answers his every beckon and call! I didn't get the full effect in this picture, because he crawled towards me before I snapped it, but David was having one of these moments. He had a very comfy nest on the couch with his favorite toys, some good books, a soft pillow beneath his head, and Therese was concerned that he was sick, so he was getting his temperature taken. Poor kid!
And here is the little mother herself - showing me the "medicine" that David needs... I guess pork is the antidote!
I didn't get any pictures of the great fun that led up to this collapse... but I'll give you the quick overview. One of Joe's classmates got married on post, so we went to the wedding and then headed over to the indoor aquatic center for Joe to do some swimming. We threw the kids' suits on, not knowing if they could get in or not. We all ended up getting in and having a blast! Dad was in such a great mood that we picked up a couple movies AND an ice cream cone for the kids on the way home! Don't worry... David woke up for the eating of the cone when we arrived back at the apartment.
These pictures don't have much of a story, except Dave has really gotten in to wearing his "little MP" hat, and I think he is really cute in it!
And, of course, David can't have a photo shoot without a little girl requesting one as well!
So... as a part of preschool, I was really inspired by the book "Teach Your Child to Read in 10 Minutes a Day", which I just got for free from MilitaryOneSource (if you are military... get some free books now!). So... Therese is no longer learning the alphabet... she is learning to read! I know... call me crazy (as some of you already do regularly... I'm OK with that!) but I'm really excited and so is she! As of this evening, she can read the words UP and PUP, and she knows what sounds C, U, and P make! So... we have "letters sounds" hanging all over the house, and we are going to surprise Joe with her reading when he gets back from the field!
The kids wanted to go to the park after naps today, so we threw on their swim suits and headed over... the last time we walked over and got all sweaty doing it, the splash park was closed due to lightning damage... so we were hoping that the "fixers" had done their best and we could get a little relief when we arrived!
In the words of Therese as soon as we had the working Splash Park in sight: "Thank you, God! Mama... the fixers did a really good job!"
They were actually a bit more in to the playground this evening, though.
The kids mention that they miss daddy every now and then, but we are keeping busy, and he'll be back before we realize it.
