Well, since I've last posted, many thorns have been taken out of our "Crown of Thorns". There, of course, were moments when I wanted to make the kids put a thorn back IN the crown for the shinanigans they pulled, but this wouldn't be the life of a stay-at-home mom if the munchkins weren't rubbing off my rough edges and stretching my patience constantly, would it?!
Speaking of, here are the culprits with their very first "earned thorns". As you can see, my son thought it would be a good idea to try and poke his eye out with it. Yes... he is quite the 2 year old!
Well, since Therese was so amazingly generous in what she gave up for Lent (playing with her 3 favorite baby dolls, which are normally her constant companions every moment she is awake at home), she has had to be creative concerning who and what she can play with now. This day, she was running more of a zoo than a nursery. You best believe they were all very well taken care of!
The kids actually slept in for a bit on Sunday morning, so dad and I decided to jump in bed with them in order to wake them up. It didn't work for Therese... but it did cause a VERY special picture!
It DID work for this munchkin!
Ahh... so sweet!
Speaking of Sundays in Lent... Therese got to play with Aana, Lucy and Sarah (the baby dolls)! She was SO excited, and she had been so good about "letting Jesus have them" during the week, that she loved-up every moment she had with them on Sunday. Here is our little Mama with her entire brood. I think at this moment David was her husband, not her son. His status changes so frequently, I never am quite sure.
Therese and the "girls".
David and his "boy".
But once Monday arrived, Therese had to once again find new "families" wherever she could. I heard her talking about her "really big family with just a dad and lots and lots of kids," so I had to get over to the play room and find out what all the talk was about:
Pretty cute!
And I had to snatch these pictures for our dear friends in Alaska who gifted us with the angels. These pictures are not set up. The thing that I am most often called to the kids' room for at nap or night time is "Mom, I can't find my angel!".
Well, we are ending this blog entry with our day at the beach! Not really, but kind of. Yesterday my kids were out doing errands in nearly 80 degree weather with sweat pants on, and they looked pretty silly, as well as feeling very hot. So, it was first on my list this morning to dig out their summer clothes. I know... on February 28th! Crazy! Well, I found them, the kids put on their first shorts of the year, and after a couple errands and Mass, we checked out a newly set-up park on post. I don't know if it isn't complete yet, or if this is how they are going to keep it, but currently the slide structure is surrounded by white sugar sand just like at Michigan! We had a picnic and slid a bit, but the kids just LOVED the sand and pretended that they were playing on the Michigan beach! And I must say, it was a bit warmer than and equally as windy as the average summer day in the U.P.!
The kids both woke up with a cold (David much worse than Therese), so it has been a constant sippy cup and nose-wiping day. Needless to say, the runny nose, the windy day in El Paso, and the sugar sand were a perfect recipe for a VERY dirty boy!
I can't look at these next picture without laughing out loud! David, I guess, wanted to dig a hole in the sand. He didn't bring any tools, so he found the next best thing... his head!
What a goof ball!
I had to get some pictures at an angle that would make it look like Michigan.
And as David got dirtier and dirtier I attempted to get a picture of his dirty mug. He thought, on the other hand, that it was a pretty fun game to hide his mug from mama by any means possible!
Therese making a sand angel!
She succeeded in getting pretty dirty as well!
And... more evading of the camera.
Don't worry... they got their hands, feet, faces, and clothes washed off before getting in the car, and a bath before going down for naps.
Well, that is it for now!
Love, Us.
