Backflash: Hamlet at SPS

I introduced the kids to Shakespeare in school this year, and they loved his plays.

So, as a bit of an end-of-the-year celebration, I took T and D to their first live Shakespearean play.

We attended Hamlet at Saint Paul Seminary, and they loved it!

I hope to add many more such experiences in the years to come.

Also, if I (and they) get motivated, I hope that they will start putting on their own little 

Shakespearean dramas for us and others!

One can always home and dream...

Backflash: What Keeps a Carload of Librandis Content for Five Hours

I wanted to write myself a quick note here in order to document and remind myself of what 

kept our kiddos completely content on a drive from Bumpa's to Opah's this spring.

I simply stopped by the library on the way out of town and grabbed one book for each child.

I think you can guess which one is for who:

I, literally, didn't turn on the radio the entire drive.

They didn't have to play any car games, and I didn't have to squash any sibling quibbling.

It was miraculous!

Oh... and on the way home we did another awesome thing for the entire five hours.

The kiddos had been introduced to "misnomers" from the wonderful "Series of Unfortunate Events" 

(think: The Incredibly Deadly Viper!) and loved the idea.

We, therefore, spent five hours making silly misnomers about all of our friends and family!

It was a blast!

Yeah. We are probably a bit odd, but I love us!

Our "Summer Home" that Almost Was...

So... sometimes we almost do crazy things when our families are physically split apart 

and we desperately want to feel whole again.

We had one of those "almosts" while we were separated this spring.

We almost bought a lighthouse... 9 miles off shore... that even the Coast Guard couldn't get to last year!

True Story.

Yeah... it was a close shave. 

We almost had the pleasure and terror of owning this:

I know. How romantic would that have been! 

However, I am completely content sitting here in our little claustrophobic hotel room for weeks on end. 

We don't need to be separated from the rest of the world to have our home.

The saying is extremely cheesy, but true. 

Home is where we are all together.

Backflash: T's Christmas Gifts

Now that we are finally settled as a family for a bit while we wait to get into our permanent place, 

I will take some time to fill in a few details that were missed over the past months. 

They will not be in any particular order, 

but will hopefully give you a glimpse of what we have been up to.

First off, I wanted to make sure to document these beautiful Christmas gifts 

that Thérèse made for all of her cousins this year.

They were super easy and turned out awesome!

All it took was a coloring page of their patron saint, a stenciled name, 

and a piece of card stock on the back. 

Laminate it, and you've got an awesome name tag for their wall or door!

We will for sure be going back to this idea for birthday parties in the future!
