Joe and I decided to bring the kids to the same place that
he and I did a "Second Honeymoon" at two years ago.
We did it at a much reduced pace, though, which was enjoyable for all.
Here we are just as we started the hike.
We just did a few miles to Pony Bridge the first day, but it was uphill,
so our campsite was still a pleasant sight.
All of the kids did great!
On the drive to the trailhead, T was in song-writing mode.
The song wasn't sticking in her head, though, so she attempted to document it later at camp.
I was super thankful that I was inspired to bring "Hatchet" as a read-aloud for the trip.
It. Was. Perfect.
Everyone enjoyed it.
And, for the most part, all of our gear worked wonderfully!
A common mantra on the trail was that I was "in charge of fun".
I did my best... mostly bribing kids with candy and another chapter of Hatchet.
I think I did a pretty good job.
Oh... and have I mentioned that we had amazing weather to go along with all the BEAUTY!?
