Well, this update will unfortunately come late and be quite short. Since the last post, sickness has been the main theme of our home. First a horrible cold that both kids fought, and now a wretched 24 hour stomach virus that even has Joe currently home from work on the couch. But, it looks as though he will be the last to fall, and we are very thankful, because we have some very fun events planned for the upcoming days and weeks! But enough of future plans... here is what our week looked like:
But, having Daddy not watching movies or spending time on the computer during Lent has started a wonderful past time that he and the kids are greatly enjoying: Painting! Joe has reignited his love of sketching, and Therese loves the company! It was a great way to keep Therese quiet at the end of nap time when David, being hit harder with the cold, needed to sleep longer.
I loved being able to cook supper and glance over and see them hanging out there in the play room!
I think it was this Tuesday when it seemed that the kids were finally well enough to take them for a park trip. We took the wagon there (a great walk/exercise for mom) and brought along a picnic. Fresh cucumbers were the main treat - being 3 for a dollar at stores right now! They taste like summer!
The kids were still coughing a bit and needed frequent nose-wipes, but they loved the long-awaited trip.
Oh... I took pictures of Joe's 2 creations. They are artistic likenesses of the kids. Sorry - I don't know how to rotate them. I think they are pretty great!
Yesterday was Joe's "Company Organization Day," which was basically a fun morning at the park on post with events for the soldiers and food and fun for families. Therese was currently down with the horrible flu, but she desperately wanted to go. So, with a change of clothing (which, without too much detail, we needed to use even before arriving at the park) we braved it, making sure she stayed a safe distance from anyone else. She spent most of the time in the wagon sipping 7-Up, but she did actually participate in the kids' sack race and won! Pictures of that later, but first, a few of dad participating in the Tug-Of-War contest. His team won this round, but were not found to be on top at the end. I think it was well enjoyed by the soldiers.
When no one else was in the bouncy house, Therese even enjoyed that quite a lot. She is such a trooper!
Dad was Dave's coach for the sack race.
David might have got last in the race, but he didn't care so long as he could walk the chalk line back and forth numerous times once the race was done!
Well, Therese was so beat after that morning that moments after turning on The Secret of Nimh she was dead asleep in her throw up bowl!
David was still up and chipper...
...but only momentarily.
Well, that is all I have for pictures this week. I could take a picture right now of Joe on the "sick couch", but I won't. It truly has proven to be just a 24 hour bug, though, so I hope that next week's batch of pictures are much more energetic and cheerful!
