Rounding out our here-and-there week before heading back home to El Paso, we spent a couple nice days in Marshall with my parents and my brother, John. The county fair was coming in just 2 weeks, so the kids got to see Bumpa and John give the cow/calf pair a bath and put them out for the night. The kids don't know how to be properly cautious around big animals yet, so we had a scary moment or two, but we all survived. I sure have city kids!
Since the Lanoues were out of town, Grandma had a special visitor for the kids to play with: Cousin David's new little birthday present, Cookie! She was VERY friendly.
And, to finish off our trip, I had to take a picture of the kids during their last night NOT in their beds. David had been asking to go to his "new home" for quite some time, and although Therese would sadly miss her relatives, particularly her cousins, greatly, I knew it was a very good thing that we were heading back home. Home may be a transitional word in the Army, but it is still home!
Oh... and Marshall, once again, left a lasting impression on my kids. Last time we were here it was Therese that looked like this due to a gnat bite... now it was David's turn. Poor kid!
I didn't get any pictures of our trip back, but once again the kids were great travelers. The bags were much more full and heavy, but we didn't have to check any, which was great! Therese got her Sprites and David got his naps, and we were home before noon! Our "new house" was still full of boxes and lacking in furniture... but it was good to be there... and sleep in our own beds!
Thanks, Everyone, for such a great trip to the Midwest! It was a wonderful distraction for the kids to start off the deployment, and it was a blessing to see all of you!
