I was wrong. They were Spicebush Swallowtails.
Did you know that swallowtails are unique in that even while feeding, they continue to flutter their wings?
I just learned that!
So... I saw this fluttering all over our Mimosa trees in back, and I thought they were hummingbirds.
I was a bit let down, but these guys are beautiful and fun to watch as well.
Here are the delicacies that these guys are so excited about.
