Yesterday we had a great Feast of Saint Nicholas around here!
Of course, it started with treats in and under our slippers.
However, the kiddos were only able to "look with their eyes, not their hands"
until chores and prayers were complete.
They were simple gifts: A few chocolate coins, a book for each child,
along with a small (meaning I got it free somewhere in 2018) gift.
Thérèse was very excited to create some sort of Saint Nick themed dessert for us to enjoy.
She was trying to imagine a cake that looked like a stocking...
but we brainstormed up something even better!
In fact, it was wonderful in two ways:
1 - It fit the theme: It had "lumps of gold", just like the ones St. Nick threw down chimneys.
2 - It used up some of our still-overflowing halloween chocolate candy!
I think we found a new St. Nick tradition for our family: Butterfinger cookie bars!
And, to end the day, Dad got home in time to read one of our new books to the kiddos.
It was a wonderful day!
