Our First On-Post Evening with Daddy!

We had plans to get to Post by a little before 6pm to meet Joe for supper.  It was an absolutely beautiful evening, and the kids were all squeaky clean from their baths, but a very sad thing happened:  We got there just a couple minutes before Joe walked up, so we were standing in the corner of the parking lot next to his barracks waiting for him.  Then he came walking up and sat down on the curb, and the kids jumped on him and had a great, old-fashioned snuggle-tickle-hug-fest... and I couldn't for the LIFE of me, find my camera!  So... please picture here the cutest ever picture possible of a father and his two cute kids...

After the cuteness subsided and our stomachs reminded us what time it was, we decided to just head up the street for an easy supper of Subway.  That and Chinese, where you would get shrimp instead of chicken or beef, were the only options we could think of for a meatless meal on post.  So... we got two foot-long tunas, sat out on the cement veranda and chowed down and had some good talk and laughs.  Sorry to Joe about the unflattering picture of him chewing... can't win 'em all!

Then, we had about 45 minutes of Dada time left before he had promised his roommate, Frank, that he would be back to study Op Orders (Operations Orders), which they would be out in the field doing all next week.  So... we had noticed that there were some pretty great playgrounds near the Main Post Chapel, and we headed over.

It was a short Dada time, but a good one... very relaxing and good family time.  Goodbyes are difficult, even when they are just until tomorrow!  She sure loves her Daddy!
